They are also unable to properly initiate and sustain a conversation because they tend to be repetitive when they talk. For those who are autistic, they also fail to respond to sounds appropriately. Furthermore, some are always unable to distinguish between sounds and hence words such as bat and cat could sound similar to them. Others may also blend words making them lose meaning. Whichever the case, students with communication deficits have many needs.
