Non-Tariff Barriers
Nontariff barriers define a significant number of government actions that eventually define trade practices. It can as well be regarded as any measure, besides the customs tariff that may act as a barrier to international trade practices. It thus sets rules and regulations on how products should be manufactured, handled and then advertised to other target markets. Some countries impose specific market requirements that may likely make the importation and exportation of products very costly. Some of such barriers include important policies, anti-dumping measures, export subsidies to encourage exportation among others.
In my opinion, non-tariff barriers to entry are necessary and countries should enact them. Firstly, such barriers help to protect local business people from external competition.
