This memorandum summarizes and evaluates chapter two of Gareth Morgan’s book “Images of Organization.” The book which was published first in 1986 has been revised severally. In the book, Morgan uses eight metaphors to describe organizations. The metaphors are figurative expressions used to describe the different mental representations that people have about organizations (Örtenblad, Putnam, & Trehan, 2016). Morgan argues that many people favor one metaphor compared to others and understand things better when expressed using their favorite metaphor (Morgan, 1998).
