At the Pasar Discussion-
This discussion will allow you to explore and manipulate the five aspects of language (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics) that we have been reading about this week.

Please do the following:

1. Read the passage below.
2. In your initial post, write a definition for each of the italicized words – see the list below and feel free to paste the list into your thread. (Make your best guess; there are no correct or incorrect responses.)
3. Then, describe how you used some (or all) of the five aspects of language to write a definition for each word.

Example: “Ouch!” cried the little buki after falling off the slide.

buki – boy (or I could have chosen the word ‘girl’; just make your best guess)

An orang-ketchil came by and stopped in front of Photak\’s stall. He looked ngeng carefully at Phare. Then he saberchakap, \”What a kawaii looking anak that is!\”

\”Do you want to sell him?\”

Photak didn\’t laly berchakap to strangers, but he saberchakap, \”What are you, some kind of a kachang or something?\” Lepas itu, Photak took his anak-anak home for lunch, which by now his bini had prepared.

Phonology entails the study speech sounds particular to an individual language. Morphology is the study and understanding of words and meaningful units in the language such as suffixes and prefixes, hence enabling people to figure out the differences between those words. Semantics allows one to understand the meaning of sentences while identifying the concept in which those words were put together. Syntax is a branch of language that analyses the order in which people place their words with the aim of effective communication (Lumen, n.d.). Pragmatics seeks…
