Moss, H. E., Lai, K. E., & Ko, M. W. (2020). Survey of telehealth adoption by neuro-ophthalmologists during the COVID-19 pandemic: Benefits, barriers, and utility. Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology.

The article is about a study that was conducted for purposes of characterizing changes in the utilization of telehealth by neuro-ophthalmologists during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as potential benefits, barriers, and utility. The study participants were sampled non-randomly via email invitation to NANOS members, the world’s largest association of neuro-ophthalmologists.

The study questions were on participants’ personal utilization of synchronous (video visits) and asynchronous (remote interpretation of tests, e-consults, and second-opinion reviews) before and during the pandemic and their views for the future. The survey was conducted on an electronic, web-based platform and distributed to participants’ emails. Results indicate that the interest in and the utilization of telehealth increased significantly during with the emergence of the pandemic. it was moderate before the pandemic as reported by participants.
