Assignment 2-1: Project Plan

To be successful, a CIO must understand what resources are required and how much time is needed to accomplish his or her goals and meet peers’ expectations (Schubert, 2004, p. 193).

To prepare for this Assignment, read the Presentation document, located in this week’s resources, to understand the presentation requirements. Your presentation is due in Week 7.

For this Assignment, write a 2- to 3-page project plan that outlines the activities you need to complete and deliver your 15- to 20-page proposal in APA format on time (Week 8) based on the Proposal Template document from the Week 1 Learning Resources area. Your plan should include tasks (by week), time estimates for each task, and important milestones.

At a minimum, your written proposal must address the following topics: governance, project management, risk management, technical infrastructure, and support infrastructure. You will learn more about these topics in successive weeks. You are expected to be developing your written proposal each week, and your project plan should include writing time. Keep in mind that this is your initial project plan and should contain your best estimates; you will have the opportunity to update it throughout this course.

Please include a table at the end of the project plan that you will complete each week to show your progress to the Instructor.

Building a robust communication framework within the organization is the basis of this project plan. A project plan enhances project completion efficiency as it entails the attribute of useful resource allocation and efficient budgetary, among other elements. Technically, it is critical to comprehend that vertical and horizontal communication must operate on the precepts of flexible transfer of instructions from one platform to the next. In this project, funds and experts will be needed to design and install a critical communication channel. The entire project gets estimated to take five months with three phases inclusive. The first phase will take two months, the second phase two months, and the third phase one month. The first face will involve designing and installing an effective communication channel within the firm. The second phase will encompass the testing of the established platform. The third face will entail the activation and incorporation of the stage into the organization where employees will get trained on using the platform.
