Part A, Web research: (15 points)
Reference: Textbook, Chapter 7,
Assignment: Using the Web, fully research and answer the following questions. Provide at least one credible Web reference (other than the textbook references) for each question.
Do not use Wiki as a reference!
Part A submission: Send your complete answers to me via e-mail prior to Week # 5.

1. What is the Domain Name System (DNS)? What is the Internet Protocol (IP) address system? How and why are they used? Compare and contrast the DNS to the IP address system. Be specific. What is IPv6 and why was it developed?
2. What is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)? How and where is this technology used? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet for phone conversation? Be specific.
3. Discuss several applications of social networking sites including marketing, entertainment, social activism, and selling goods and services. Be specific. Where do you see this technology in five years?
4. Visit and explore the website: http://searchenginewatch.com/ In particular, explore the SEO, PPC, Analytics, and social areas. Skim at least one article from each area.
   What did you learn? What aspects of this Web site interest you the most? Fully discuss and provide specific examples.

5. Using the Web search engine of your choice (Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc…), visit the help pages for your search engine. Investigate specific ways to refine and narrow your search so the most relevant results appear at the top of your list. Discuss at least three specific methods with examples that you can use to improve and speed up your searching!
   Part B, Web Site Creation: (10 points)
   You wish to create a Web site for either your personal use or a small business. Using the Web fully research what it takes to create, host, and deploy a Web site.
    Identify the key steps to create, host, and deploy a Web site.
    What options are there for hosting a Web site?
    List at least three Web sites/companies you would use to actually host your web pages.
    Identify at least three credible web sites you would use to improve your skills and knowledge of web site creation.
    If you already have a web site, discuss what you have learned and share your observations with fellow students.
