After taking the SRSS scale I learned that I am over stressed. I need to let some things go. I need to learn to relax and start getting rid of the things that are stressing me out. My stress level is so high that it will soon start to mess with my health. I have also just noticed that I stopped taking my asthma medication daily. The American Heart Association states this is one of the signs of being stressed when you stop taking your medications as prescribed.

Family, divorce, work, and my new living situation are a big stressor most of all. It seems getting use to my new environment is taking a toll on me. My biggest thing is getting over a divorce that happened many years ago. To this day my ex-husband still likes to fight with me and stay in court. This I am not sure how to get rid of in my life. We have a 7-year-old daughter so I am stuck until our daughter is 18. The living situation I am getting use to however it is a tremendous change to me as well. I was raised in a small town to now living in a big city with my husband. Work, well it sucks right now and I am making a change on a better career. And then there is the family. I came from a big family and we were all so close. After I divorced my husband most of them resented me and we have not spoken in years. I miss them and our family gatherings. I am learning to cope with this each day.

What measures can you take in order to lower your stress and optimize your health and well-being?

Writing is an effective way to get out my stress. I am getting the stress off my mind. I can write my problems down without someone judging me or giving me a negative response. Express writing is a way to reduce depression and stress. Meditate is another effective way to release stress. I have also thought about therapy. I have a few friends that have a therapist and they say this is one of the best ways to relieve your problems or help you.

How will this enable you to become a more productive student?

As a college student I feel that me letting go of more things will help me concentrate and try harder in my schooling. I get so stressed out on days I come home and just lay around and do not want to do anything. I need to make sure my health stays good. I think I will come home before getting online and write out my day then begin my class work.
