A. LGBTQ groups experience various challenges both from the legal institutions, family, and community at large. Religious doctrines define marriage as a union between and a man and a woman, and marriage is considered as a holy and sacred union (Rumens, 2016). The law provides a different definition of marriage, given that it is people that dictates the rules. Religious leaders can argue about the repercussions of committing the blasphemy of marriage by allowing practices of the LGBTQ community. Still, they don’t have the right to limit the rights and protection of minority communities based on their sexual orientation (Lewis & Kern, 2018). Conservatives have failed to convince people that same-sex relationship is wrong to the extent of denying these individuals their civil liberties.
B. It is essential to acknowledge that these are rational human beings who deserve the right to be protected under the law. As the law defines a minority group, the LGBTQ group should not be eliminated as they are similar to any other minority group, that is, Hispanic, African American, Orient, Middle Easters, among others, and they deserve to be treated equally to other groups (Logan et al., 2017). Denying LGBTQs the right to marry is similar to denying a Hispanic the same right.
