The West Side Story is a musical/drama that parodies the tale Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet and it takes place in New York in the early 40’s and 50’s. The drama is a tale of two rival gangs which undertakes to despise each other on a vicious circle of hate. Each group has its leader in this case, Riff leads the jets a group which has polish origin while Bernardo, on the other hand, is the leader of Sharks who have a Spanish origin (Atkinson 1). A critical review shows that the rivalry between the two gangs existed even before the story took place. Interestingly, the neutral parties from each side meet in a mysterious way.
