Lone Survivor Case Study

In the case of a ‘Lone Survivor’, various accountability questions can be identified. The accountability questions are exposed by examining how the whole operation was prejudiced leading to deaths of the SEAL and other rescue team members (Luttrell & Robinson, 2014). Some of these accountability issues include; proper decision-making, control over communication within the group and with other members in the army base and lack of proper intelligence.

            Proper decision-making requires that decision makers select the best alternative from various options available and under a different situation. In the case of Lone Survivor, the group leader makes decisions that are costly to the group at a later stage. The decision to release the goat herders is one of the poor decision that jeopardized this operation. Despite the fact that other groups members were aggrieved by his decision, there wasn’t much they could do as the had to follow the rules of engagement.             Lack of proper intelligence is the other accountability issue arising in this case.
