Translational Research for Practice and Populations Fall Prevention
Although research on patient falls and prevention continues to grow, falls in hospitals and other healthcare facilities remain a challenging and complex problem. Patient falls significantly impact their health, and the results or repercussions are evident in form of increased hospitalization time, physical and emotional consequences, and even death (Rowan & Veenema, 2017). In this case, therefore, focus will be on the current nursing practice – patient falls in hospitals – within an identified healthcare setting that requires a proposed practice change. The description of the current nursing practice will also include reasons for a change. The key stakeholders, who are part of the current nursing practice within the healthcare setting, will be identified, in addition to their roles in terms of supporting the proposed practice change. Other areas of focus will include presenting a critique table on relevant sources, evidence-based summary base on their findings, and a recommendation on the specific best practice.
