Research forms the foundation of evidence-based practice which is critical in improving the quality of care. Consequently, nurses will often seek to use available scientific evidence to improve patient care. However, not every knowledge in a research study can be applied by nurses in clinical practice. Some of the specific aspects that nurses look at in a research study include the research findings and the healthcare setting where the findings were applied, the target patient population and how the results were applied in the research (Doyle et al., 2020).
