ENGL 26319 – Rhetoric and Argument Across Academic Disciplines

Select a topic of your choice and write a 4-5 page double-spaced formal APA style research essay. You must use the Traditional – Classical Model of Argument for your final essay. Here is what you have already submitted to demonstrate the research process in completing your Final Essay:

You will have already completed the Research Essay Proposal and Bibliography (10% by week 6).

You will have already completed a Literature Review (10% by week 10: includes a revised proposed thesis that clearly indicates at least three (3) supporting points and an Annotated Bibliography of your five (5) sources (see the Literature Review Assignment Description document).

Your Final Essay is an argumentative/persuasive essay in the Traditional – Classical Model of Argument

Research Essay (25%): a final copy of your completed essay, 4-5 pages in length- completed in the Traditional/Classical Model of Argument.

Evaluation

Literature Review (due Week 10*) /10

Includes your revised thesis statement – one to two sentence statement that indicates your general topic, your main argument and lists three supporting points that will help you prove your perspective

Includes five (5) LEGITIMATE sources formatted in APA style- should be from Sheridan Library Database – these sources are formatted in APA- you will have made any formatting corrections to these bibliographic entries from your proposal assignment.

Includes a brief discussion of each resource*- below each bibliographic entry include a brief paragraph that shows 1) a brief 4–5 sentence- summary of the resource’s main ideas, 2) an analysis of the resource– strengths and weaknesses of the resource, and 3) a consideration of how the resource might be used in your final essay.
