Discussion
When this morning’s incident was reported to Cindy, she was incredulous. “If this continues,” Alan Stone ranted to Cindy, “we’ll never see a repeat customer. The local community will be gone and we’ll be no better than the old Georges Grill, depending on hotel guests looking, for a quick, cheap breakfast.”
Cindy had previously met with David Chang, general manager of the restaurant, so she knew there were issues with integration of new and existing staff, but she hadn’t expected it to be this bad. The staff’s behavior had to change. “Calm down, Alan,” said Cindy. “I’ll meet with David this afternoon, and we’ll get it taken care of.”

Conflicts between employees can be a source of misery and compromised performance for the general organization. The organization’s management must ensure that emerging conflicts are resolved amicably and that a conducive environment that promotes proper working is established. For the case of Cindy and David Chang, there are many approaches that can be used to resolve the emerging conflicts (Budd et al., 2010). The first way to resolve the employee problems is to create a proper communication channel where any slight hitch can be resolved amicably. A good communication channel should secondly be followed by clarity of roles and responsibilities in the organization. There is also need for a proper onboarding program through which the new employees can learn the company culture and integrate with other employees as a way of reducing possible conflict among employees in the organization. An onboarding program will also help to establish a stronger employee experience, better employee retention, enhanced productivity and higher engagement of employees (Ocampo, 2016).
