It is important for the CIO of an organization to be able to present proposals to the board that include an IT strategic plan as well as a plan to implement technology systems to the C-suite. As part of this process, a CIO must present IT strategic and implementation proposals in a clear and concise manner. It is equally important to be strategic in your approach, to justify your approach with necessary data, to be professional and adaptable, and to practice your presentation before giving it.

This week, you review important strategies as well as helpful tips for presenting to the C-suite as well as to the board of an organization.

The CIO is expected to have a business vocabulary equivalent to that of other C-level executives and to be able to translate technical language into business language (Schubert, 2004, p. 118).

Also, read the Presenting to the Board of Directors document, located in this week’s Learning Resources area, to better understand how to present to a board of directors.
