Self-management is one of the best solutions for preventing the continued prevalence of chronic diseases. Self-management means taking an active role in managing one’s own health and management of the conditions around it. Self-management of health not only slows down the continued prevalence and progression of diseases but also prevents any complications from occurring thus reducing the number of visits one has to make to the hospital (Dietz et al., 2015). Providing support as healthcare providers and the appropriate learning opportunities encourage people to take active roles in managing their health.
