The data horse is supposed to lead the hypothesis cat. Hence, if the hypothesis fails to be consistent with the data, then the hypothesis is not considered as a reasonable or sufficient explanation of the paper’s content. The most probable effect of the inconsistency is that the hypothesis is rejected, leading to the search for a new hypothesis that is in line with the experimental data. Many questions arise when the hypothesis doesn’t show consistency with the experimental data; for example, a person might feel like disowning the whole project (Ratain & Karrison, 2017).
