There are many instances in the supply chain where products are returned back to the manufacturer from a consumer. Unlike in conventional forward logistics which is meant to have products reach a consumer, reverse logistics may be implemented for recovery of warranty, value, repair, refurbishment or just to meet consumer needs. This process has both advantages and myriads of challenges.
Observing reverse logistics is the best way to meet the consumer expectations and hence improve the consumer retention ability. In most instances, products are returned because they could not meet the consumer expectations (Agrawal, Singh & Murtaza, 2015). Therefore. by an organization observing reverse logistics, consumers will feel their views have been respected and hence they increase their loyalty to the products offered….
