There are times when convicted offenders are exempted from serving jail terms but instead are required to serve on probation subject to incarceration if they in any way violate the conditions imposed. Parole, on the other hand occurs when individuals who are jailed are given an opportunity to be rerelease before they have completed their sentences. Like in probation, such individuals are subject to incarceration upon violation of conditions imposed.
