1. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O\’Connor (page 516-526)
2. A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner (page 658-664):First consider the issue of conformity and address the following: How are the characters in the selected stories encouraged or required to conform? What are the repercussions of not conforming in the selected stories?
Then, consider the issues of isolation and alienation. What are the circumstances that give rise to isolation? Describe the kind of alienation that occurs–physical, psychological, intellectual, social, political, religious, or artistic–that the selected texts explore.
