1. Consider the past achievements in public health as many have implications around the globe.
2. Describe a global health concern that has impacted your community or those you care for.
3. Discuss what surveillance data could be pulled from an electronic health record (EHR) you have used or currently use in your nursing practice.

The global health concern that has impacted my community, Pasadena, is HIV, with the number of cases documented coming second countrywide with approximately 11,323 cases as of 2017 (Targethiv.org, 2017). Coupled with the high rate of homelessness, the health concern the Pasadena community is struggling with has also exacerbated the rate of mental health and substance abuse cases (Cityofpasadena.net, 2020). Given the enormity of the geographic area, the health services are available, but they are spread out making access a major issue, thus the gravity of the health matter.            In my nursing practice, the surveillance data that could be pulled from an EHR (electronic health record) is the HIV-prevalence survey data.
