Evidence-based practice can be defined as the integration of research in ensuring that there is the provision of quality care to patients. The concept of EBP is based on research that is clinically relevant, experience and clinical skills, the concerns and expectations that patients have based on their unique health care concerns. The integration of research practices are thus based on the following five steps: formulating a question that is answerable, finding the best and most available evidence, the third step is to appraise the evidence where the critical question that the study is about is evaluated as well as the results that the evidence yielded. The next step in evidence-based practice is to implement the evidence where individual clinical decisions are made based on the evidence obtained and the last step is to evaluate the outcome whereby the effectiveness of the presented decision is directly linked to the patient. This work seeks to critically evaluate how evidence-based practice can be integrated into a practice question that will be formulated herein.
