This class is very interesting seeing the positive and negative things that can happen to be a counselor.

What I have learned from this class is that every person deserves a chance and as a counselor, we must treat every client with respect and not with a bias attitude.

There are legal and ethical issues that I must watch out for and to always be professional.

The information from this course has enabled me to understand that counselors providing addiction and mental health services are in critical positions because the relationship began with trust between counselor and client.

On the bases of trust, the client is vulnerable because he will be sharing personal information and believes that it will stay with his counselor.

I have learned through research of ACA Code of Ethics that with trust between the client and counselor the relationship must be functional.

Counselor is also responsible for protecting third party receiving information with regard to payment for services received and knowing when the client has presented a danger to himself or other people.

We learned that protecting client information, client must give consent, otherwise we are liable for any damages to the client.

We learned proper procedure for termination of services and that we have an obligation to explain to client why services were terminated and refer him to another counselor to give them the opportunity to continue therapy.

I have learned that Counselors have a tremendous responsibility for their client’s well-being while in treatment and that privilege should never be taken for granted.

The counselor will take all information into account on the side of mental health.

The treatment must be focus on the client.
