ASSIGNMENT | Content Calendar

You are the new social media manager for the Cross Country Ski Areas Association in Woodstock, VT. The CCSAA is a real organization. They represent ski resorts around the US. Their goal is to try and help promote skiing – by encouraging a enthusiasm for skiing, and a culture of skiing around the US. They do try to promote specific ski resorts – but they have found this approach unsuccessful. So recently – they’ve been focusing on trying to increase interest in cross-country skiing among new target audiences: young, urban Americans who may not know that skiing is a fun, relaxing, healthy way to get outside and spend a weekend!
You\’ve been hired by the Membership Director, Reese Brown, to get on top of the organization\’s social media plan for the next month. You need to produce a content calendar for approximately one month – beginning on Monday, November 25, and ending on New Year\’s Day.
This is actually a real opportunity to work on a real client – and we\’ll be working with CCSA for the Digital Storytelling project. So here is a chance to start getting familiar with who they are.

As for key events during this time period – I asked Reese for any ideas – here is what he mentioned:

–Around Thanksgiving –
o get your gear ready for Winter
o Family time on the trails
o — Full moon night skis with your buddy/dog
o –Christmas time is for family and love
o Book that awesome NE (or Rocky) cross country ski vacation at a beautiful county inn/ranch
o January – make that New Year’s Resolution a reality with a cross county ski experience. Treat you mind, body and soul to an outdoor activity, great food and relaxing evenings

Now don\’t worry – it’s ok if you don\’t know much (or anything at all!) about skiing! Have fun – and use this as a chance to play around with what a content calendar is. Also – you do not need to actually create real content; you should include at least one sample Text content post, at least one hashtag, and one idea for content that you will \”curate\” from another site, in the content of your discussion post. You should also create the content calendar- using \”titles\” of fake ideas, using some sort of template that you design (or using any of \”social media content calendar\” templates you find online).
In your post, explain what you\’ve done, and make at least one or two references to course materials from this week to justify your content planning plan.
The goal here is to show that you understand what a content calendar is, what it does, and to start thinking about the CCSAA as a client for our digital storytelling project for the next lesson.
