Half the Sky
Education is recognized as one of the basic human rights. It is also appreciated as a significant factor to break the poverty cycle, and bolster the quality of life for countries, communities, and children, especially girls around the world. Approximately 75 million children do not attend school currently; for every 100 boys, there are close to 130 girls without access to education (Kristof & WuDunn, 2009). Given that access to education provides students with the opportunity for personal development such as gaining self-confidence, global education is even more important, although it may be overlooked. In the video, Half the Sky, there are three ways it specifically connects with global education.
To begin with, one of the ways Half the Sky connects with international/global education is through global reporting/awareness.
