Safe and Responsible Use of an Assistive Technology Device
Assistive technology, if used responsibly and in a safe manner, can be of help to students living with different kinds of disabilities (Pace, Mellard, Smith & East, 2017). This section of the paper aims to instruct a grade 9 student on how to use assistive technology safely and responsibly. The case study is based on a graphic calculator which is a mid tech assistive technology. Firstly, the student has to read the instructions from the manual and understand all aspects of the calculator. In case of any question, he should seek clarification from the teacher. Secondly, the student needs to outline steps they will use to perform simple algebra with the calculator.
