Drought is one of the deadliest natural hazards with adverse effects on humans, water resources and agriculture. Over the last few months, Hallettsville City encountered an adverse drought hazard that affected the region based on water and food supply. The drought hazard has led to reduced purchasing power in addition to affecting the crop and cattle farming.  To mitigate the adverse effects of the hazard, Lavaca County administration has formulated a mitigation plan that aim to eliminate the possible risks and reducing the severity of drought. The plan has both short-term and long-term strategies.
