1. In your judgment, are violent and sexually explicit videos harmful to children?

2. Will the free market and industry ethics satisfactorily protect society from any harm that may emerge from video game playing or is legal intervention necessary? Explain.

3. Do we need to protect children from video games, whether violent or not? Explain. If so, would government intervention be the most effective way of offering that protection? Explain.

SAMPLE SOLUTION

There is too much sex and violence in most of the videos watched by kids, the music they listen to, and the games they engage in. The greater of a specific type of content we view, the higher the desensitization level we encounter (In Adams, 2018). Like drugs, the greater the violence or sexual content children view, the more they need to get the similar shock aspect. Many studies have shown that explicit and violent videos genuinely impact children’s behavior and ethics. The kids might not kill individuals because of watching Bruce Willis kill bad guys, but studies inform us that the content affects a child’s behavior towards other people (McKee, 2015). On the other hand, increased children’s exposure to sexually explicit and violent videos raises the agreement that violence is an acceptable option for solving issues. It also enhances acceptance in kids of the mean existence syndrome.
