Chapter 7 Summary
This chapter introduces the dynamic nature of terrorists as they seek to undertake their violent activities. An almost follow up of what was introduced in chapter 2, chapter 7 lays down the strategies employed by al Qaeda under the leadership of KSM, the then Bin Laden head of operations regarding their plan to attack the US. The chapter also outlines the desire that Laden had in seeing the now famous 9/11 attack to have happened even earlier on (9/11 Commission, 2004). From what started as an idea, it is in the chapter that the group that was to lead the attack was being assembled right from having them undertake flight trainings to making surveillance for best target areas.
The chapter starts by introducing Hazmi and Mihdhar who came to California in the pretext of learning English and attending flight classes as they had received no prior training for such a sensitive operation. The two are seen to be moving from the US to Pakistan as they establish contacts (9/11 Commission, 2004).
