Mandatory incarceration of chronic juvenile offenders is deemed of no importance. According to Rand Corporation findings, the more chronic juvenile offenders have been arrested the higher the probability of continuing with their chronic offenses in their adulthood (Greenwood & Zimring, 2013). As such, there is need to look for commonalities in factors that contribute to increasing chronic offenders among the juveniles and use such information to formulate effective programs that will offer alternative solutions as opposed to juvenile detention centers.

Placing chronic juvenile offenders in the mandatory incarcerations will not offer any solution in curbing the maladaptive behavior. This is attributed to the fact that mandatory incarcerations of the juvenile offenders do not offer a solution to the root cause of the chronic offenders.
