I was in a family practice as a student family nurse practitioner. It met all the course outcomes/expectations. My preceptors were great and very informative.

The 5 MN568 Course Outcomes are:

MN568-1: Demonstrate a consistent approach to the evaluation and management of illnesses and conditions for clients presenting in primary care setting.

MN568-2: Order and interpret diagnostic testing based on the history and physical assessment for clients presenting with acute, episodic, and chronic illness in the primary care setting.

MN568-3: Formulate an evidence-based management plan for clients in the primary care setting with acute, episodic, and chronic illnesses.

MN568-4: Design age appropriate health maintenance and screening plans for adult primary care clients.

MN568-5: Form a collaborative relationship with the client, family and other health care providers.

Reflections on Family Practice Practicum

As a student family nurse practitioner, I met all the course outcomes through various experiences that I underwent during my practicum. In the primary care setting, I served many patients through conducting different diagnosis, and with the help of my preceptor, I was able to demonstrate competence in evaluation and management of illnesses. I was also generally competent in all diagnostic issues for different sicknesses. I was capable of both ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. This service involved conducting a brief medical history of a patient using electronic databases and determining the magnitude of the disease; whether chronic, acute, or episodic. My practicum preceptor affirmed that I performed well in accurately administering the right treatment for patients with different conditions. The practicum enabled me to develop an evidence-based management plan for patients in the primary care environment with acute, episodic, as well as chronic diseases. My preceptors guided me on how to come up with a management plan for addressing different illnesses. They also involved me in things such as evaluation, home treatment, prevention, and clinical treatment of various acute, episodic, and chronic conditions. Indeed, I was able…
