A nursing philosophy is a system of values and beliefs guiding nurses in the discharge of their mandates. Personally, my nursing philosophy is related to Jean Watson’s Model of Human Caring which defines caring as detailed and systematic (Watson & Woodward, 2020). My philosophy is hinged on the idea of compassion, care, and respect. As a compassionate, caring, and respectful nurse, I am more inclined towards providing patient-focused care. Based on this philosophy also, I strive to provide care to patients from different diversities and backgrounds regardless of their culture, religion, sexual preference, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.
