Women’s Health Scenario

• Describe your case study min is this:

When I think of some of the biggest challenges that may exist as clinician caring for the patients with gynecological concerns, I think of the following scenario.
A 24 y/o Sudanese F presents to the clinic with a cc of sudden onset of vague abd pain with suspected vaginal bleeding that is described as bright red in color x 2 days. Patient is uncertain if she is pregnant. Patient has a language barrier with no previous medical care.
Vitals: BP 92/52, pulse of 66, respirations of 18, temp of 98.2, pain 8/10 on numerical pain scale, Spo2 of 97% RA.
NKDA

I believe this scenario is challenging for many reasons, complexity (this will be an extensive work up), vagueness of symptoms ( lack of information provided by the patient leaves alot of possibilities to rule out) and barriers to care (language and possibly social economical hurdles) .

The assignment will require:

• Provide a differential diagnosis (dx) with a minimum of 3 possible conditions or diseases with defintitions of what they are.
• Define what you believe is the most important diagnosis. Be sure to include the first priority in conducting your assessment.
• Explain which diagnostic tests and treatment options you would recommend for your patient and explain your reasoning.
• Also, share with your colleagues your experiences as well as what you learned from these experiences.
• Use your Learning Resources and/or evidence from the literature to support your thinking and perspectives.

SAMPLE SOLUTION

Proper assessment of the symptoms presented by a patient can help to make better conclusions on the likely condition of the patient. The assessments, coupled with a proper differential diagnosis, helps to narrow down to the best plan of care for the patient’s condition. However, challenges are bound to emerge when there is hardly any historical data that can form the background for further diagnosis as evidenced in this case study where the Sudanese patient because of the vagueness of the presented symptoms and the language barrier.
