Review of PICOT Question Research Articles

Introduction

Working in intensive care units (ICUs) is the most difficult role that nurses perform within any health care facility because it demands for high level of both physical and psychological commitment which leads to burnouts (Sivakumar, Hisham, & Saravanabavan, 2019). Intensive care unit nurse face difficulty challenges which sometimes affect their mental awareness and their social lives. There are various studies which have tried to establish the causes and occurrence of burnout among the critical care nurses. This study evaluates the data provided by past surveys in order to answer the PICOT question: What are the negative impacts of burnouts among the nurses in the intensive care unit? The paper synthesizes the literature of past studies, establish their comparative analysis, and suggest an area that should be explored by future studies.

Search Methods

This study adopted qualitative study design to collect data from the past studies on the impact of burnout among the intensive care unit nurses. The research established an inclusion criterion that articles should meet before they included in the current research. For an article to be considered, it should be a peer-reviewed journal and published within the period not exceeding five years.
