This week we will focus on conflict management.
The health care world is not without conflict; some small and some more complex. As nurse leaders, we must be prepared to take a role in resolving conflict and finding the best solution or compromise to the problem we are faced with.

PART 1
Reflect upon a conflict that you have experienced in health care. Different personalities clashing.
How was the conflict addressed? Was it handled appropriately? Using insight from this week’s resource article, discuss how these suggested strategies were or might have been applied to your specific example. Do you feel some strategies are more important than others? Why or why not?

Joining a professional organization offers several advantages. For discussion, share with the group which professional group you have or planned to become a member of. American Nurses Association (ANA)
What type of group is this? What is their purpose? What benefit can you foresee by becoming a member? How will you become involved with this organization and in what ways can you utilize your involvement to improve health care?

Part 1
Dealing with clashing personalities is a common problem for any nurse leader. The problem arises because people tend to have different opinions, especially when it comes to patient care. I had the opportunity to witness a conflict between opposing personalities in a healthcare facility. The nurse leader opted to address the conflict by bringing the two individuals together to discuss the problem and iron out their differences….
