10-2 Survey: Organizational Conflict Awareness Self-Assessment II

An organizational conflict self-assessment refers to a style that one prefers for conflict resolution. The assessment is also important as it helps one to explore the typical response to an emerging conflict with the aim of countering emerging conflicts in future. This task provides a discussion of the self-assessment.

The results of my assessment showed that my score was 33 for items that were rather true. This score describes me as an assertive and aggressive person. Assertiveness means that I am firm in standing for what I believe is right (Ford & Evans, 2002). This is a true description of who I am because I have always stood for what I think is for the good of not only myself but also the organization. These skills have also been key in shaping the relationship that I maintain with the organization and also other employees (Cowley, 2007). Believing that we are both unique but with inherent abilities to do the best of our abilities has also been key in shaping the role that I play in the organization. Mine has always been about inspiring other employees and demonstrating to them that whatever we do should be geared towards making the organization better.

Being aggressive has also been manifested in the manner in which I approach organizational goals. The self-assessment results showed that I am also I am steadfast in my decision-making and I am not afraid in giving my opinion. These are characteristics that describe how firm in advocating for decisions that are to improve the wellbeing of the organization (Ames, 2009).  My perception has always been that the true spirit of any employee should be reflected in the ability to perform to their best of abilities and to defend what is right for the organization.
